Hi! I’m Lila Krishna. I’m writing a novel called India House, about the origins of the Indian freedom movement. It’s fun, exciting fiction based on cold, hard fact.

So you hear about wacky things like the Ghadr party’s attempt at assassinating Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in San Francisco. Or about the time Savarkar traumatized Gandhi with a plate of prawns. Or….. the plot to blow up Westminster by a bunch of Indian revolutionaries in London, which was shelved in favor of creating bomb factories all over Bengal.

I share the fun parts of researching the pre-WW1 history of India and Britain, and the Indian revolutionary movement, as well as the not-so-fun parts of writing a novel. Occasionally, I write about mental health, productivity, and my toddler.

I do not write anything about current politics, and you can rely on my tone being enthusiastic, curious, and seeking to share what I learn. I would love to hear from you about anything you find interesting that you think I’d be interested in knowing, as well.
